Die Berghütte befindet sich im Naturschutzgebiet Vanil Noir und ist umgeben von den höchsten Gipfeln des Kantons Freiburg. Sie ist im Besitz von Pro-Natura. Im Tal Vallon des Morteys, wo die Hütte liegt, gibt es eine einzigartige Tier- und Pflanzenwelt. Der Bergweg ist gut begehbar, und es ist immer wieder ein lohnenswertes Ausflugsziel für Familien.
